The 'New N200' project has been underway since October 1, 2018. Major maintenance work is being carried out on the highway between Amsterdam and Halfweg. This project will take around 1.5 years and may cause inconvenience for visitors to SugarFactory.
What will happen?
The N200 is a busy road between Haarlem and Amsterdam. The section from the Halfweg-Zwanenburg railway station—located opposite SugarFactory—to Amsterdam is due for maintenance. New drinking water transport pipes and a new bridge at Halfweg will be installed, and a green entrance to Amsterdam and an eco-passage will be constructed. Rijkswaterstaat, the municipality of Amsterdam, the Amstel, Gooi, and Vecht water board, and Waternet have joined forces and will tackle all the work in one go. This will cause some disruption. You can therefore expect an additional 15 minutes of travel time on top of the regular travel time. There will always be one lane available in both directions and closures will be indicated with yellow signs. In addition, text signs will provide advice on the route to follow. Every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience.
Route to SugarFactory
But what is the best way to reach SugarFactory? Our advice is to take the A200 instead of the N200 to SugarFactory. You can reach the A200 by leaving the highway at the Rotterpolderplein junction (A9). The A9 connects to the A4 and A5 (from Rotterdam) and the A10 (from Amsterdam). Follow the signs for Haarlem (A9) to the Rotterpolderplein junction and then follow the signs for Halfweg/Amsterdam. Take the A200 towards the intersection at Halfweg-Zwanenburg station and turn right here under the 'gatehouse'. The entrance to the event site is on the left at the end. Another option is, of course, to travel to SugarFactory by public transport. The Halfweg-Zwanenburg train station is located opposite the SugarFactory site. There are four trains per hour in the directions of Amsterdam and Haarlem. The construction work will not affect train traffic.
