The Voice of Holland chooses industrial event location
SugarFactory in Halfweg to host The Battle of The Voice of Holland
Halfweg, October 30, 2015 – Starting tonight, SugarCity in Halfweg will be the battleground for The Battle of The Voice of Holland. Over the past few weeks, the sequel to The Blind Auditions was recorded in the industrial setting of the event location in Halfweg. Forty remaining candidates will compete live here, just outside Amsterdam, for a place in The Voice of Holland.
The Voice of Holland chose SugarCity because of its beautiful, raw, industrial setting and facilities, such as its large floor space, ample parking, and a train station right outside the door. SugarFactory could offer all this less than a ten-minute drive from the capital. The audience on the first floor adds a new dimension to The Battle of The Voice of Holland.
The atrium
The operator of SugarFactory, Cobraspen Vastgoedontwikkeling B.V., made every effort to provide Talpa with optimal facilities. For example, the company invested in measures to make the production for Talpa a reality. This included investments to get the first floor ready for use. The use of the atrium showed the boxing ring to its best advantage. The restoration of Huis Swanenburg was also completed ahead of schedule, additional escape routes were created, and the electrical capacity was increased to 1500 KVA.
Luigi Prins, owner of Cobraspen Vastgoedontwikkeling B.V.: "It's great that a mega-production like The Voice of Holland has chosen the industrial look of the old CSM sugar factory in Halfweg. It has become a beautiful calling card. Since 2000, we have been working on the redevelopment of the former sugar factory site, converting the sugar silos into ultra-modern show and office spaces, an event location, and a Factory Outlet. It's good to see that The Voice of Holland has also fallen for the beauty of this industrial heritage."
Former sugar factory
The former sugar factory has retained its authentic character despite its conversion into an event location. The factory halls are large, rustic, and unpolished, and equipped with all modern facilities and technology. The location offers a surface area of no less than 21,000 m2, spread over multiple rooms and floors. SugarCity in Halfweg is very easily accessible. The venue, with more than 400 parking spaces, is a ten-minute drive from Amsterdam and Haarlem, Schiphol Airport is a 15-minute drive away, and it is located right next to an NS train station.
