The days are getting shorter and we are seeking comfort indoors again. This is the perfect time to start thinking about a staff party! As the end of the year approaches, there are plenty of reasons to put your staff in the spotlight. After all, showing your appreciation is often the essence of a staff party, a party that everyone will enjoy and look back on for a long time to come.
Halloween
The first occasion you can seize is not yet very well known in the Netherlands, but that may make it all the more fun and original. We are referring to the scariest party of the year: Halloween!
For various reasons, Halloween is perfect for a successful staff party.
- Everyone is dressed up — and that means that everyone may have to step out of their comfort zone, but it also creates a sense of connection and undoubtedly a lot of fun!
- No complicated themes or thinking about decorations. Scary, scarier, scariest is the motto, and within that, you can go as crazy as you want.
- At the same time, everyone who is present is also part of the decoration. If everyone in the organization comes dressed up, it's a great sight!
- Just before the rush. At the end of October, no one (we think) is organizing a Christmas party yet. This gives you more choice of cool locations! It can also be nice to celebrate the busy month of December in a more subdued way. People often take days off in December to take care of the last things that need to be done before the end of the year; it can be quite hectic.

Christmas
Although we mentioned the advantages of a Halloween party over a Christmas party above, we cannot ignore the most popular staff party of the year! December is and always will be a festive period, and a beautiful Christmas party has been a favorite for years. The possibilities are endless, and you can organize your Christmas party however you want, in a way that best suits your company. A few examples:
- Sitting dinner: a classic Christmas party is to treat your staff to an extensive dinner at a unique location, with or without entertainment.
- Christmas drinks: here too, the possibilities are endless. Do you want to go all out, following the English tradition of Christmas parties with a karaoke booth, photo booth, and dance floor, or do you prefer something more subdued and stylish with delicious catering and a lively band?

New Year's party
Would you rather leave the often already busy Christmas period behind and celebrate the New Year as an organization? Then a nice New Year's party is an excellent opportunity to thank your staff for the past year and start the new year on a positive note!
Inspiring ideas for a New Year's party could include:
- Award show: reward your staff for their efforts and motivate them to do their best throughout the year by organizing an award ceremony during the New Year's party! Who generated the most revenue, who excelled in collegiality, and so on…
- Present your goals, mission, or new products/services to your employees during a New Year's party. When you do this at the beginning and end with a spectacular party, you set the right tone for the coming year.
- Get everyone working together and strengthen the group spirit in a fun way with a team-building event. A game element is often the main focus here, but a joint workshop is also a great idea. Or step into the virtual world with a VR experience. Anything is possible!
