Over 575 fixtures to accentuate cooking pots and many depth effects:
SugarFactory in the spotlight by Bazelmans AVR
Halfweg, March 17, 2016 – The fast-growing event location SugarCity in Halfweg has invested heavily in a lighting and rigging plan, making the entry-level model for parties to use the old CSM Sugar Factory even more interesting. Bazelmans AVR, with branches in Veldhoven and Amstelveen, is responsible for upgrading the most functional and striking event locations in SugarFactory. The total supplier of professional lighting, image, and sound is working on the Pulppersloods, the Binnenstraat, and the Middenfabriek with its floors, among other things.
The collaboration took the customer's wishes into account. To further enhance the character of the spaces, a lighting design was created with over 575 fixtures. In addition to functional lighting, the design consists of an extensive range that accentuates the industrial details of the buildings. Not only the characteristic boilers, but also the many depth effects within the old sugar factory are emphasized in this way.
As a partner, Bazelmans is also responsible for a digital infrastructure that enables technical producers to apply their own lighting design with the installed facilities. The supplier has also installed a multifunctional rigging plan in de Middenfabriek and Pulppersloods for additional technical facilities. This enables SugarFactory to offer fast and effective solutions for a wide range of applications.
Managing director Denise Schimmel of SugarFactory: "This investment makes the entry-level model so attractive that all parties can use the factory to its full potential with the most beautiful permanent lighting, including rigging and trusses, in this centuries-old factory. Clients are free to supplement this with their own technical suppliers, although it must be said that Bazelmans AVR now knows the location like the back of its hand and we enjoy an optimal working relationship."
Wiljan Bazelmans of Bazelmans AVR: "SugarFactory has given us the fantastic opportunity to install technology in the centuries-old trusses, steel structures, and walls. This makes the spaces stand out more beautifully than ever before. Details that would otherwise be lost are now highlighted. Investments have been made, putting the factory in a whole new light and making it suitable for all kinds of events."
SugarFactory
SugarCity is located on the former site of the CSM Sugar Factory, just outside Amsterdam, and now has its 'own' train station right on its doorstep. The old sugar factory has recently been transformed into one of the leading new event locations. Due to its recent success, more and more new spaces are being added to this location, such as the recently added power plant: the Turbine Hall. With its unique buildings, offering a total of 21,000 square meters of event space, it forms the basis for many trade fairs, conferences, and events. Amsterdam and Haarlem are within a ten-minute drive, and Schiphol Airport is within a 15-minute drive. Recently, the location was the scene of 'The Battles' and the latest part of 'The Knockouts' of The Voice of Holland. The SugarFactory site is being developed by Cobraspen Vastgoedontwikkeling, the specialist in the restoration of monuments, industrial heritage, and the reuse of buildings and complexes in the Haarlem and Amsterdam regions. Cobraspen gives cultural and industrial heritage a new lease of life, thereby preserving this heritage for the future. The original sugar factory closed its doors in 1992.
