On Thursday, September 2, the AMMA Award Show took place at SugarFactory! This year was different than usual, but no less enjoyable. The "Oscars of the Media" were presented during a festive live event in accordance with the applicable measures.

Organizer MWG—the trade association for media professionals—chose our former CSM sugar factory as the location for this year's prestigious award show. The AMMA Awards are a spectacular event every year and always give the public something to look forward to. Something they have succeeded in doing again this year!
Leading concept and production agency Xsaga transformed our industrial event location into a chic seated dining venue for the occasion, where guests could enjoy live performances by Sven Hammond and his Big Band during a seated dinner at long tables.
The big winners of the evening were Mindhare Greenhouse, which was named 'agency of the year', the Dutch government took the award for 'brand of the year' and Qmusic was crowned 'media operator of the year' – just like in 2019!
Spectacularly placed event
Denise Schimmel, General Manager at SugarFactory, explains why the sugar factory is perfect for a large-scale seated event such as the AMMA Awards 2021: "Our location is very suitable for large-scale events. Thanks to the space available in the factory, we can organize a great event even in these uncertain times. De Middenfabriek is ideal for a spectacular dinner, seating 700 people at long tables, in compliance with RIVM rules."
Since last month, one-day events with fixed seating have been allowed to take place again, provided that full vaccination is required or a proof of access test no older than 24 hours can be presented. Visitors to the event even had the opportunity to be tested on site, as a rapid testing station was set up on the SugarFactory grounds. There was also a phased entrance, with four time slots to prevent crowding before screening.
"It was great to welcome so many guests to an event again," Denise continues, "as an event venue, we are of course fully committed to showing that such business events can be facilitated in a safe manner."

SugarFactory is easily accessible by car and public transport. Halfweg-Zwanenburg station is right outside the door, with trains to and from Amsterdam and Haarlem departing several times an hour. What's more, SugarFactory has plenty of parking space on site. So guests always park right outside the door.
