What began as a sugar factory in 1863 is now the event venue you’ll never forget. The steel beams are still there. So are the brick walls. But the machines have made way for something else: unforgettable events, passionate people, and a creative team that brings out the best in your idea every time. Every event carries that history with it.
The secret lies in the addition
From sugar factory to event venue
The site lay dormant for ten years. Until the Cobraspen Group acquired the former CSM site in 2002 and, together with the architectural firm Kentie & Partners, initiated the redevelopment. The enormous factory halls, with their steel structures, rough brickwork, and high ceilings, proved to be the perfect backdrop for something new. Where sugar was once made, SugarFactory now adds its own ingredient.

SugarFactory exudes history, yet lives in the present. The steel beams, exposed brick, and high ceilings remain, but the rest is contemporary. Modern technology, professional facilities, and a team that knows how to create an event that leaves a lasting impression. Rugged and raw on the outside, but inside, it’s all about the experience.

SugarFactory is easily accessible by both car and public transportation. The Halfweg-Zwanenburg train station is right outside the door, with several direct train connections per hour to Amsterdam or Haarlem.
The location is easily accessible by car via various A and N highways. Additionally, SugarFactory has its own parking spaces.
Are you expecting international guests at your event? Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is just a 15-minute drive away.
At SugarFactory, impressive events and corporate social responsibility go hand in hand. From energy and material use to waste management and catering, we make conscious choices.
That’s already in the venue’s DNA. Preservation was central to the factory’s transformation: the historic building remained intact, and as much of the original material as possible was given a second life.
The chemical formula for sugar is C₁₂H₂₂O₁₁ and consists of a hexagon and a pentagon. Together, the hexagon and pentagon form our logo and symbolize the added value of our event venue.
