We have been eagerly awaiting the return of inspiring live events bursting with energy. However, the pandemic has had a lasting impact on the world of events.
Where we made a complete shift from live events to online events, hybrid events now seem to offer the best of both worlds. But what are the advantages and disadvantages of live and hybrid events? And how do you make the right choice when organizing your next event? In this article, we take you through the latest developments and the future of (digital) events.
The advantages of live events
There is something magical about organizing and attending live events. From concept to execution, creating an unforgettable event for both the company and the visitor. In addition to the fact that all the senses are stimulated during a live event, think for example of (live) music, lighting effects, and catering, it also offers the opportunity to respond more easily to situations. You can feel the atmosphere and make use of spontaneous ideas, and you can interact with the audience in a more personal way than is possible online.
Of course, live events also have their challenges. Finding a suitable event location is essential for the experience and setting of the event. The number of guests must also be taken into account, as this is limited at a physical event. Fortunately, our industrial event location has enough space for a total of 8,000 people!
The opportunities of hybrid events
Are digital events boring? Certainly not. And definitely not when combined with a live component during so-called hybrid events. This brings together the best of live events and online technology. This extra dimension—where guests gather both online and offline—offers many opportunities. Think of dial-in, interactive quizzes, and sending food boxes. The number of online guests at a hybrid event is unlimited. This allows you to organize larger and international events without having to take the capacity of the location into account.
It is, of course, important to have a good technical setup so that the hybrid event runs smoothly and guests on location and online have the same experience. Fortunately, there are plenty of platforms and tools you can use for this. It may also be wise to hire an online director to ensure that everything runs smoothly. We work closely with Bazelmans AV, our preferred supplier in audiovisual technology, who knows our location inside and out for an optimal setting. Very handy!
The future of events
We can safely say that hybrid events have made their breakthrough. But it doesn't stop there. Developments are in full swing and the metaverse also offers many possibilities for events! It even promises to bridge the gap between the physical and virtual worlds. There is already a lot of experimentation going on with this innovative way of hosting events.
One example is visitors coming together in a virtual world as "avatars" using VR glasses. This 3D environment offers more possibilities than a static screen. In the metaverse, you move around in the same way as in the real world. The metaverse can be a valuable part of hybrid events and offers new opportunities for gamification, self-expression, and creativity.
The pandemic has challenged us to come up with creative solutions and organize events online that are just as inspiring as offline events. Having experienced the best of both worlds, we are certain: hybrid events are here to stay! The events world continues to evolve in order to create the optimal visitor experience.
